- Do I need to load the entire MSDS into the
MSDS Management Module in order to use the Environmental Reporting
Module?
- Our company already has an inventory system.
Can I import the inventory files into the Environmental Reporting
Module?

to be very comprehensive. How do I assure myself that I will
properly implement the software for my company?

my environmental compliance reporting?

Do I need to load the entire MSDS into the MSDS Management Module in order to use the Environmental Reporting Module?
If the MSDS Management Module will not be implemented for
Right-To-Know purposes, then loading an entire MSDS into this
module is not required. However, the Environmental Reporting
Module utilizes certain key information directly from the MSDS.
Therefore, to compute environmental reports, information should
be entered into the following fields: Product Name, Manufacturer,
Component Name, Percent of Product, CAS No., and Specific Gravity.
Furthermore, Specific Gravity can be included as part of the
Stock ID for any necessary unit conversions to pounds.

Our company already has an inventory system. Can I import the inventory files into the Environmental Reporting Module?
Yes. This can be done by the end user without any custom programming
by LOGICAL. HAZMIN® only requires a comma delimited text file
and a certain order to the information. The documentation incorporated
into the environmental reporting software will enable you to import your own inventory,
usage, and/or waste information.

The Environmental Reporting Module appears to be very comprehensive. How do I assure myself that I will properly implement the environmental reporting software for my company?
LOGICAL offers several lines of support. First, there is on-line
help documentation. Second,
LOGICAL offers unlimited phone support. Third, LOGICAL includes on-site
training and implementation design assistance for this module. LOGICAL will be there to assure
that your implementation will succeed.

My only concern is tracking chemicals for SARA Tier II reporting. Do I have to track all receipts and consumption of materials?
No. If you only want the Environmental Reporting Module to
track inventories and compute the annual SARA report, periodic
on-hand totals will suffice. The environmental reporting software will compute the average
and maximum amounts. You will be able to run the
SARA report at either the product or component level.

I am interested in reporting for SARA Tier II at the component level. How does the environmental reporting software help me manage my reporting?
There are several options. The easiest is to select the Tier II report by 302 list.
The Regulated Substance Database will automatically determine
which MSDS components are reportable and drive the Tier II report
accordingly.

I am responsible for environmental reporting for several facilities. Will one copy of the environmental reporting software compute environmental compliance reports for multiple facilities?
Yes. The Environmental Reporting Module can compute threshold,
SARA, emissions, and release reports for multiple facilities
within one copy of the software. You will, though, need to license
"additional facilities" for the Environmental Reporting
Module.

Can I import purchasing information and have HAZMIN® compute my receiving and consumption thresholds for Form R?
Yes. The Environmental Reporting Module will compute the receiving
and consumption thresholds in pounds for each Reporting Name.
All of the MSDS components, which may be synonyms of the reporting
name, are linked together. Then, HAZMIN® utilizes purchasing information
to compute the threshold for each Reporting Name. In addition,
if "process" operations are distinguished from "otherwise
use" operations in the purchasing information, the threshold
calculations will be further refined.

I am interested in tracking my emissions for a clean air act permit. Will the environmental reporting software compute my emissions based on the usage of various materials?
Yes. The emissions reporting option within the Environmental
Reporting Module can compute emissions based upon material consumption
in a variety of ways. You may compute emissions based upon sampling
measurement or engineering analyses. For example, the environmental reporting software
can track the emission as a percentage of the original component
on the MSDS of the consuming material. In addition, by-product
emissions of a manufactured or consumed material may be computed.
Because processes change and pollution control equipment may
improve or degrade, all changes in emission factors are date
stamped and only applicable until they are superseded. At reporting
time you may compute the total emissions based upon the applicable
emission factors for a reporting period or a daily or even hourly
average emission.

It is very important for my clean air act permit that I mass balance the waste generation so that I do not over report my emissions. Will the environment health and safety software perform a "true" mass balance?
Yes. When tracking the amount of material going to a process,
a percentage of that material may not have been actually "consumed"
in the process. To compute emissions on this non-consumed material
would overstate emissions. Therefore, HAZMIN® mass balances the
waste generated from an operation against a set of "consumed"
material transactions for that operation.

I don't have a lot of time to sit at a computer screen and input numbers each day. How can the Environmental Reporting Module make this process less time consuming?
You can input all of you daily values into a spreadsheet,
perhaps, on a weekly or biweekly basis. Then, import that spreadsheet
into the environmental reporting software. It may even be advantageous to create a standard
grid of transactions and import that grid into the software each
time that you wish to input values. Any extra transactions with
the number of containers or units left blank will simply be ignored
by the software.

The primary objective of the Environmental Reporting Module
is to compute environmental reports. Consequently, flexibility
played a major role in the design of this module. We understand
that transactions may get out of sync and, therefore, we allow
storage quantities to go negative. When the electronic transactions
catch up, everything will return to normal. If you are worried
about negative storage quantities, there is a standard storage
report that will document negative totals.

How does the environmental health and safety software help me compute all of my releases for Form R?
All of the options that were mentioned earlier with regard
to emission calculations are also applicable to release calculations.
When the Regulated Substance Database Module is included, the
releases for chemicals as a percentage of the original MSDS component
are aggregated into one Reporting Name. In addition, you can
easily identify the Form R waste stream to accumulate the releases
of the reporting name to each waste stream. Next, by entering
sample information for your waste and documenting the quantities
of waste going offsite, the releases of reportable chemicals
in the waste, will also be accumulated for the total release
calculations.

Our county has a unique emissions report. Can I create a custom report from HAZMIN®?
Yes. The HAZMIN® emission reports can be exported to a spreadsheet
program. From there, you may customize the report to meet your
county's requirements.

If I accidentally enter bad information in the Environmental Reporting Module, how do I correct the bad data?
You may query all of your transactions to find the "bad"
transactions. Once you have identified the set of "bad"
data, you may delete those transactions. All tables in the environmental reporting software
will be appropriately updated.

What reporting capabilities are available, in addition to, the required environmental reports?
There is an extensive standard reporting capability covering
all aspects of receiving, storing, consumption, manufacturing/generating,
and shipping - for both materials and wastes. There are also
provisions to track costs associated with each of these. In addition,
every transaction can be queried. As with other HAZMIN® reports,
the results from all of these reports may be directly transferred
to a spreadsheet program for further analysis, graphing, and
report generation.
