With the Comply1 MSDS Services LOGICAL maintains your MSDSs and provides unlimited Right-To-Know access for your employees to your MSDSs. Optionally, Comply1 MSDS Services can also include Spill/Exposure Overviews, Hazard label assessments, and hazard label printing. This is the same level of MSDS service provided to HAZMIN Online customers.

Many customers still prefer to manage all of their software on their own servers. Sometimes, this is necessary because the users have no access outside of the corporate Intranet. In other cases, you may want to provide your own security to prevent access to any corporate databases. Whatever the reason, LOGICAL will license HAZMIN® for installation on your server and for use within your Intranet.

Included in the license fee, LOGICAL will come on-site and install the database & web pages. Usually, as part of the same trip, LOGICAL will then provide training on the software. Depending on the number of modules, installation and training can range from one to three days. You are required to cover the cost of travel and lodging for the trainer.

With the optional, multi-lingual implementation of HAZMIN®, you can easily provide multi-lingual MSDSs and multi-lingual search pages for your users. When a user searches for and MSDS, for example, in the Spanish search pages, the Spanish MSDS will be displayed. Whereas, a user searching in the English search pages would see an English MSDS. With the flexibility of the software you can add any number of languages, but, at this time, you are limited to roman-character languages, such as English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, etc.

HAZMIN® can support a single facility or a corporation with multiple divisions and plants. Irrelevant options are hidden from small plants, while multi-national installations can even customize the multi-lingual Right-To-Know search pages for local idioms.

HAZMIN® has been designed to support a corporation with multiple facilities. Based on how you want the information to be accessed, individual facilities may be limited to only seeing information and reports for their own facility. Conversely, all information can be made available to selected users, allowing individuals with corporate responsibility to easily run reports including all facilities.

All HAZMIN® "terms" can be customized to match your in-house terminology. If you want to change "HAZMIN Number" to your "Company Number", change it. If you have "SKU's" or "Part Numbers" instead of "Stock Numbers", change it. For example, if you are a hospital and you want to call your "Locations", "Wards", change it once and it will be changed throughout the entire software and in 'Help'. The flexible field naming will assure that you can use terminology which is best understood by all users. Like "Branding", the use of recognized terminology increases acceptability by the casual user.

HAZMIN® is 100 % browser-based and should work with any popular browser. HAZMIN® only requires Acrobat Reader to be installed on the desktop to read PDF files. No other software or plug-ins are required on the user's desktop.

HAZMIN® has no client side java or VB Scripts. There is a little JavaScript used in the browser to improve the user interface. All computations are performed in the SQL database and all programming is handled on the web server.

For users who will be running reports on significant amounts of inventory data in the Environmental Reporting Module, working with the Regulated Substance Database, or entering MSDS, it is recommended that they have at least an 2+ GHz machine with 1+ GB of RAM. While all of the processing does occur on the server, large amounts of data can take significant resources to format promptly on the desktop.

HAZMIN® web pages are designed to work on a Windows server running Microsoft's Internet Information Services. HAZMIN® utilizes Microsoft's Active Server Pages and SQL statements to communicate with the HAZMIN® database.

Sizing of the web server depends on your plan for HAZMIN®. A dedicated web server is rarely justified. Quite often the web server and the database server may be the same machine. HAZMIN® has been designed and tested to work with MS SQL databases. The following versions of MS SQL are currently supported by LOGICAL:

• MS SQL 2000
  
• MS SQL 2005
  
• MS SQL 2008
  

One of the above databases is required for the software. Since the maintenance and support of the database, itself, typically requires that someone be trained and serve as the DBA - Database Administrator, most corporations have selected one of the above as their corporate standard. If your company has no one trained to serve as the DBA for the HAZMIN® database, or no extra staff to assign to this task, you may be a better candidate for LOGICAL's Hosting services.

While many variables may affect the size of your actual MSDS database, a small MSDS databases would be 25 Megs and a good size MSDS database with thousands of MSDSs and related data could be 200 Megs. MSDS images are not stored in the database and typically average 300 Megs per 1,000 images. As we determine the customer's needs and plans for HAZMIN®, LOGICAL will work with you to help estimate the size of the database and image files.

For implementation of the software, one year of Maintenance and Support is included with the licensing of the software. As part of Maintenance and Support, customers receive 24x7 phone support and software updates for the modules that you licensed. After the first year, LOGICAL will continue to provide Maintenance and Support while the customer continues to pay the annual fees for the service.

LOGICAL provides Maintenance and Support for four basic reasons. First, to fill the gap between your needs at the time the software was acquired and your future needs by continuing to enhance the software. Second, to help you protect your manpower investment in the software by offering ongoing training and consulting in the use of the software. Third, to protect your overall investment in the software by fixing problems identified by customers. Fourth, to support your installation of the database.

HAZMIN® is modular. LOGICAL's philosophy is to provide only the module(s) to accomplish a client's current requirements. You may always upgrade HAZMIN® by licensing other modules as you need to expand the software. Acquiring modules in stages will not jeopardize the functionality of the fully integrated HAZMIN® software or incur a price penalty.
